The Tech Recruiter Intel Series: Tip #5 - Be PATIENT

Patience Is a Power Move

Let’s be real: waiting sucks. Especially when you just had a great interview, they said they’d follow up soon… and then? Crickets.

But what recruiters told me is a helpful reframe:

"If we’re not getting back to you, we’re probably waiting too."

Try to be patient with the process.

Hiring managers go on vacation. Feedback gets delayed. Priorities shift. It’s not always about you.

⏳ Here’s what they recommend:

  • Wait a few days (up to a week) before following up.

  • Keep the tone warm, helpful, and respectful: "Just checking in, still very excited about the role. Let me know if you need anything from me."

  • Assume the best - they’re human too.

👉 Aim to be persistent without being pushy.

And that energy? It’s memorable.
